Two young volunteers go to Nepal to assess the real impact that VIN’s Community Health Program has on the community. They made it living in a small town in Nepal, called Kavresthali.
OUR FIRST DAY IN NEPAL
“Our host father woke us up at 6.30 this morning to have tea with the family. The house where Willanka (the other volunteer who was here) and I stay is on the slope of a big hill in Kavresthali. The view of Kathmandu is amazing! After tea, we watched together some bollywood videos until the breakfast was ready. As usual, it was baht (rice) with veggies and dal (soup). Really mitho (tasty), even too much! Then it was time to walk down the hill and go to the village by bus: it’s half an hour shaky ride from the outskirts of Kathmandu to Balaju and from there about 15 minutes walking through the crowded streets to reach the office. There we were welcomed with a cup of tea and started our work today: finalizing surveys to assess the impact of VIN’s Community Health Program.”Brechje Oonk, The Netherlands, Community Health.Credits to: Dániel Hernádi; Boglárka Horváth.
