Be a volunteer in Cambodia is not only a working experience, it’s a immersion in the community daily life. Volunteers’ activities are necessary to make a better environment where, especially children, are free to move. In this specific case Siem Reap Khmer Smile School needs some renovations at the beginning of a new school year.
VOLUNTEERS AT WORK
So the volunteers in Siem Reap Khmer Smile School are not only teaching. Yesterday, they started the day with some hard work. During the rainy season, the entrance of the school is always wet.
The volunteers are helping the owner of the school cover the walkway with sand and stones to make easier for the kids to reach the classroom. In three days of hard work, the walkway will be completely covered in preparation for the strong rains of August.
Cambodian Youth Action is also thinking about rebuilding the school in the next years to make it nicer and more comfortable for the kids. Maybe in few years kids will have a brand new school and in the village there’ll be no problems during the entire rainy season.
